We’ve got something new for you … facts straight from the farmer!
For those of you interested in the educational and agricultural aspect of what we do, we are starting a new informational series in the EggsPress! Each week or so, the farmer is going to give updates and information about life here at Kackleberry Farm and what it takes to run it!
Keep a check to see what the farmer will tell us about next!
This week’s topic: Pot-bellied Pigs
Many of you have met our pot-bellied pigs, Porkchop and Babe. Pot bellied pigs are clean, highly intelligent, and loving creatures. Pigs in general are the fourth smartest animal in the world. Some people even house train their pot bellied pigs but we prefer to keep ours outside! Pot bellied pigs live an average of 12 to 18 years and have distinct personalities. Babe is very curious and observant. Porkchop likes to get most of the attention and is loud.
Babe and Porkchop eat well-balanced, nutritious meals because they can easily become obese…imagine that – AN OBESE PIG! Their diet consists of commercial feed and fresh vegetables.
We have had Babe and Porkchop for nearly three years. Babe has had one piglet and we expect her to have more soon. (Lisa has had one person-let, and she’s expecting another one soon, also.) Hopefully, we’ll be posting a picture of a baby real soon. Check back to see.
See you at the farm,
Farmer Vaughn
